SunTrust Awards Purpose Grant to Bridgewater Retirement Community
Grant to help Bridgewater solidify the “why” behind what they do
ATLANTA, March 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — SunTrust Banks, Inc. (NYSE: STI), a purpose-driven company dedicated to helping its clients achieve a sense of financial well-being, today awarded its Purpose Grant to Virginia-based Bridgewater Retirement Community at the BrightHouse Global Purpose Summit. SunTrust partnered with BrightHouse, a global purpose consulting firm, to offer the grant which provides consulting services valued at $100,000 to help an organization articulate its purpose and outline how to bring it to life.
“A defined purpose can drive business performance and enable a company, no matter the size, to leave a lasting impact on its clients and the community it serves,” said Rilla Delorier, SunTrust’s chief marketing and client experience officer. “SunTrust’s purpose of lighting the way to financial well-being guides our teams to provide clients with solutions that help them feel confident and in control of their finances.”
From its inception in 1965, Bridgewater has been about community, filling a need for assisted living and nursing, then expanding to include homes for independent retirees and a memory support unit for dementia care. Currently, the organization is growing and renovating its nursing home to adopt a household model of care, creating a true sense of home and removing feelings of isolation. Bridgewater will create households of 18 to 22 residents, where most individuals will have private rooms and all will have a full bathroom.
Bridgewater applied for the Purpose Grant to determine what retirement will look like in the future, and how its current model can continue to strategically adapt to incorporate resident-centered care within all aspects of its organization.
“As our community’s needs have evolved, our organization has worked hard to grow and offer the best care and quality of life for our residents,” said Rodney Alderfer, president of Bridgewater Retirement Community. “No one escapes the aging process, so it is important to invest in the future and the kind of care we will all one day need.”
